The Jasper Volunteer Fire Department is housed in two locations, one on Elm Street in Jasper and the second on Mockingbird Hill. The department was organized in the 1960’s.
There are currently 19 trained firefighters and several First Responders serving under the supervision of Pam Emerson, Fire Chief, on the department. Some of the emergency equipment include an AED (automated external defibrillator), extrication and rescue equipment. The department provides service to over 850 full time residents in the district and many more part-time. Fire departments that provide and receive mutual aid for the district are: Hasty, Mt Judea, Parthenon, Deer, Mt Sherman and Krooked Kreek.
Recently the fire department gained recognition as a Fire Wise community through the Arkansas Forestry Commission and NFPA.
Training is ongoing and the team continues to seek new training opportunities.
